First Finish of 2010

Hurrah! This is a really old project from the late 90's. There were many things wrong with it like, a lack of 1/4 seam allowances, a striped sashing fabric that was ravelling (it got replaced with the black check), wonky seams, and...etc...etc...etc...But those flaws turned out to be good things because it gave me the freedom to try out some new (to me) quilting techniques without fear. I used my free motion foot and found out that I prefer my walking foot for straight lines. Then I used that same foot and stippled around the boys. Magic that was. It made the quilt lie so much flatter. For the border I did a curvy path with loops just like little boys would make if playing follow the leader, ending with a machine sewn binding. The pattern is by Little Quilts.
